According to a poll published by The Independent, 54% of respondents, compared to 46% last year, believe that leaving the EU is a bad decision.
Separation is hard to digest. Britain left the European Union two years ago. The British hoped that Brexit would allow their economy to flourish and their authorities to better control their borders. Many of them seem very disappointed with the result, to the point of calling for a referendum on returning to the EU.
According to a Savanta poll for The Independent daily newspaper, 65% of Britons would demand a new vote to reverse Brexit. This figure is clearly progressive, as the same poll was conducted last year at the same time, and just over half (55%) of those polled already wanted a new referendum.
The details indicate that some Britons want the vote fairly quickly, while others are willing to wait a little longer. Thus, 22% of respondents demand a referendum in the next five years, 24% – in six to ten years, and only 4% predict it in twenty years.
By comparison, the share of Britons who reject a new Brexit referendum fell from 32% to 24% over the year.
Also, according to this poll, 54% of Britons think Brexit is a bad decision. This figure continues to grow since last year, this opinion is shared by 46% of respondents.
While the majority of Britons surveyed believe that Brexit is partly to blame for the deterioration of their economy, many also believe that it has tarnished Britain’s image internationally. This is especially true for trade.
In late December, the British Chamber of Commerce called on Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his government to renegotiate its deal with Europe, made under Boris Johnson, to improve trade, Le Point and Rador cited.
