Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday instructed his government to organize the screening in cinemas of some “documentaries” about the offensive of Moscow’s troops in Ukraine by February.
In a document published on the website of the Kremlin, it is emphasized that “the Ministry of Culture should make proposals to ensure the screening of national documentaries in the network of cinemas on topics related to the conduct of a military special operation, the fight against the spread of neo-Nazi and neo-fascist ideologies,” reports France agencies. Presse and Agerpres.
Russia justified its attack on Ukraine mainly by the desire to “denazify” the neighboring country, the Kremlin accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi and the authorities in Kyiv of complicity with ultra-nationalist circles.
Moscow is also presenting its offensive against Ukraine as a proxy conflict with the West over important supplies of Western weapons to Kyiv.
This decision was taken after several setbacks suffered by the Russian army in Ukraine, which in recent months was forced to withdraw from the Kharkiv region (northeast) and the city of Kherson (south).
On Monday, the Russian army had to admit a particularly heavy blow suffered by its troops in the city of Makiivka in eastern Ukraine, as a result of which at least 63 people died. But according to Kyiv, the losses will number in the hundreds.
Russia has already passed numerous laws to control words surrounding the “special military operation,” as it calls the large-scale war it launched on February 24 in Ukraine.
The law particularly severely punishes those who spread what the authorities consider “lies” about the Russian armed forces.
