The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine reported that the suspect in the removal of the Banksy mural in one of the Ukrainian cities faces up to 12 years in prison if he is found guilty, Al Jazeera and Reuters report.
The work, which depicts a woman wearing a gas mask, a robe and holding a fire extinguisher, was removed from a wall in the city of Gostomel on December 2, authorities said.
The work of the famous British artist was valued at more than 9 million hryvnias ($243.9 thousand), the ministry said.
The fresco was restored.
Banksy has confirmed that he is the author of this mural and six others in areas affected by fierce fighting since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in late February.
