Forty percent of the territories occupied since February 24, when Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine, have been liberated over the past year, the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Valery Zaluzhny, said Monday, as quoted by CNN.
“The armed forces have liberated 40% of the territories occupied during the large-scale invasion and 28% of all territories occupied by Russia since 2014,” General Zaluyny announced in a Telegram post about the balance for 2022, according to News.ro.
The current length of the front line is 1.5 thousand km, noted the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces.
Zaluzhnyi also reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine conducted military exercises on the territory of 17 European countries. “Thanks to international partners, it was possible to train more than 20,000 soldiers,” he said.
“In 2022, more than 600,000 people were evacuated from the combat zone and more than 2 million tons of humanitarian goods were brought in,” General Zaluzhny said.
