
Magnus Carlsen became the world rapid chess champion for the fourth time, the Norwegian scored 10 points out of 13. The podium was completed by Vincent Keimer (Germany) and Fabiano Caruana (USA).
The representative of Romania, Richard Rapport, took 8th place
Carlsen scored 10 points out of a total of 13, while an unexpected Keimer finished with 9½ points (the same as Caruana’s bronze medal).
Naturalized in September of this year, Hungarian Richard Rapport took 8th place for Romania, scoring 9 points at the competition held in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
For winning the title of world champion, Carlsen will receive a check for 60,000 dollars, and the representative of Romania will receive a prize of 14,000 dollars.
