But why is Romania different? Because a number of exceptions and anomalies allow what analysts call abuses of this special pension system.
Faced with a demographic decline, European states that have been generous to some categories of future retirees are beginning to revise this system. The situation in Europe is complicated by the fact that the number of employed workers is decreasing and the number of pensioners is increasing. In other words, for most people, retirement risks becoming merely symbolic. However, there are still many “special” categories of pensioners who do not suffer from this.
