Innovations and medical research have brought MedLife to a leading position in the market of private medical services in our country. In the context of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in 2021, research has become important to find solutions for rapid treatment or prevention. MedLife, together with a team of outstanding Romanian doctors, invested in numerous studies of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and for the first time in real time provided the public authorities with important information to fight the pandemic. The company presents the Future Care Sustainability Report, which details all MedLife initiatives for 2021.

Research, strategic task for 2021

Thanks to its experience and expertise, MedLife expanded and diversified its sustainable development activities during 2021, which positively affected people and society. The company’s initiatives and solutions have made an important contribution to the development of Romanian communities throughout the country.

“For nearly three decades, MedLife’s integrated healthcare system has aimed to improve patients’ quality of life, increase life expectancy and offer the latest diagnostic and treatment options through the integration of information technology and the spread of innovation at all levels. For us at MedLife, innovation is the driving force that has led us to a leading position in the private healthcare market in Romania. We are the first company to make research a strategic goal. Also, to be closer to patients, we continued to expand the MedLife network at the national level through new acquisitions– said Mykhailo Markou, president and CEO of the MedLife group.

Practical actions and community solutions are united under the RoMâine platform, a collaborative national wellness activity that brings together stories that heal, actions that inspire, innovative treatments and personalized solutions that give us hope for a better tomorrow.

Community care

MedLife’s business philosophy is based on the principle “We make Romania better together”. Maximizing the positive impact on the community and people is a priority for the company, and the actions carried out during 2021 were coordinated in this direction.

“We want to help people improve their lifestyles through the healthcare services we offer, through our experience and expertise, and through our presence in local communities across the country, where through diverse and coordinated action we can maximize positive impact our actions (…) We strive to contribute to the national recovery from all points of view: medical, social and environmental.” said Mykhailo Markou, President and CEO of MedLife Group.

Here are the main areas where MedLife invests for people, communities and society:

Research: at the forefront of the fight against the SARS-CoV-2 virus

Medical research can solve many problems faced by medicine, and MedLife is the first Romanian company in the private medical sector to make research a strategic goal. In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, MedLife has been involved in SARS-CoV-2 research since its inception.

In 2021, the pandemic created new challenges for society, and MedLife, through the research unit developed in 2020, conducted numerous studies on the evolution of COVID-19 on the territory of Romania, the natural immunization of the population, the evolution of the dynamics of antibodies against the SARS-CoV-2 virus, with its own funds. the degree of post-vaccination immunization, the origin of the virus circulating in Romania, as well as the route of transmission or the presence of other strains.

In the face of one of the world’s greatest challenges, MedLife has assumed an important role in supporting the community and the state. The company was in constant contact with the state institutions of Romania, which for the first time provided important information for the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

Expanding access to medical services in rural areas

One of MedLife’s commitments to society is to increase access to health services for as many Romanians as possible, especially from rural areas and other areas with limited access to medical tests, research and interventions.

The Health Caravan is an approach where MedLife medical teams travel to disadvantaged areas (where there are no permanent or full-time medical staff) and offer consultations, ultrasounds and laboratory services. After 20 minutes, patients receive an assessment of their health status.

Free interventions through the “Operational Marathon” project.

Medical care services for the indigent categories are complemented by surgical interventions offered by MedLife in the scheme free of charge. These interventions take place within the framework of the “Operational Marathon” project, which has moved to the national level. “For the future, we intend to continue our actions and bring them to the level of national programs”Mykhailo said to Mark.

According to MedLife Group’s first 2021 Sustainability Report, care for the community is also reflected in donated medical equipment, financial support provided to various associations, and preventive and educational programs implemented in collaboration with HotNews.

Care for patients

The medical needs of every MedLife patient are met by highly qualified physicians and staff who provide medical excellence with professionalism, care and compassion. Patients can benefit from a multidisciplinary approach to pathologies provided by experienced superspecialist physicians.

To be closer to patients and their current needs, MedLife has created in Romania an integrated system of medical services for perfect health. With a sustained development plan, the company provides patients with medical services that can meet all their needs, from preventive services, wellness services to treatment, hospitalization and complex surgical interventions, including with the help of robotic technologies. This integrated system offers you all the support you need to check your health and benefit from personalized treatment.

In addition, the MedLife brand has been complemented by a second medical brand, Sfânta Maria, which provides patients with integrated medical services that patients can access based on a referral ticket. The Sfânta Maria brand includes more than 60 of its own medical facilities and an extensive network of family doctors and specialists under contract with CNAS.

“For 27 years, MedLife Group has contributed to the development of the medical system in Romania, becoming the largest private medical operator and the first Romanian company to be listed on the stock exchange. We are proud to have created in Romania an integrated system of medical services for excellence in health care, in which since its establishment, more than 5.5 million unique patients have benefited from a variety of medical services provided by MedLife doctors with care and professionalism. – says Mykhailo Markou, president and CEO of the MedLife group.

As physical access to healthcare services has become more difficult during the COVID-19 pandemic, MedLife was one of the first healthcare providers to develop telehealth services to facilitate patient access to healthcare services. Taking care of patients, MedLife continues to offer the opportunity to receive excellent medical services right from home, with the help of a virtual clinic. Thus, patients benefit from specialized medical care in an increasing number of specializations.

For young patients, MedLife has created the first and only private pediatric hospital in Romania, located in Bucharest. Here, children benefit from the best specialists, modern equipment and international experience. Services dedicated to children are designed to provide them with safety and 5-star conditions, so that they feel as comfortable as possible.

MedLife is a strategic partner in the field of employee health care in Romania. The preventive and preventive packages it provides include occupational health services, consultations and examinations, medical tests, 24-hour medical hotline, screening campaigns, medical assistance anywhere in the country and many other benefits that benefit both employees and and their employers. Currently, 768,000 employees in Romania from 8,000 companies already benefit from medical services through the MedLife medical subscription.

Environmental care

A greener Romania is another of MedLife’s commitments to people and the community. MedLife also joined in 2021 actions to reduce the negative impact on the environment and find solutions with a positive impact on it.

The company cares about reducing energy consumption, LED technology is implemented in 99% of every clinic. It has also implemented energy-efficient settings for heating, ventilation and air conditioning, thereby reducing energy consumption, and is considering the use of photovoltaic panels.

Water consumption is controlled, and through MedLife’s internal operating procedures, MedLife ensures that there is no risk of biological contamination of the discharged water.

Waste disposal is an important issue for the company. MedLife has very strict work procedures for hazardous substances and adheres to the rules for their handling and disposal.
