A Russian military man who confessed to killing a Ukrainian civilian this summer now has a criminal record in Russia as well, and is accused of spreading “fake news” about Putin’s army, the independent publication Meduza reports.
Russian soldier Daniil Frolkin is accused of knowingly false information about the Russian military, and his name coincides with the name of a serviceman who confessed to the independent publication “Important Stories” about the murder of a civilian Ukrainian resident in the village of Andriyivka, Kyiv region.
Then Frolkin said that the civilian he killed had given the coordinates of Russian convoys moving through the Kyiv region to the Armed Forces, and the order to shoot him was from the commander.
Frolkin criticized the Russian command and promised to leave the military service, which he did at the time of publication of the article.
Journalists from the independent Russian publication IStories tried to contact Frolkin to find out whether the new dossier was related to his testimony about the killing of a civilian, but without success.
In Ukraine, Frolkin is accused of violating the laws of war, he faces life imprisonment.
