The woman who survived the accident is in the hospital, she has not been told that her husband has died. “Yesterday around 19:30 I spoke to my brother’s wife, she didn’t know where her husband was, she didn’t know anything. He was not told that he died,” said the man’s sister, quoted by Antena 3.
Video taken from the vehicle behind a bus full of Greek citizens that crashed into a metal beam on Pasajul Unirii in Bucharest on Friday afternoon, killing a 53-year-old passenger, shows the vehicle changing lanes seconds before the crash, in ‘driving to a section of the road where vehicles exceeding a certain height were prohibited, reports the Greek press.
The bus driver would tell Romanian authorities that he was following the route instructions from Google Maps. He did not explain why he did not notice the road warning sign, reports ekathimerini.com, which is quoted by news.ro.
Passengers on the bus said the driver was tired after a long journey from Thessaloniki, about 680 kilometers to the southwest.
Another driver drove a bus from the city of Volos to Thessaloniki, but did not continue the journey. He replaced another driver who was supposed to accompany the bus to Bucharest, according to rules that require two drivers on long routes.
13 victims of the accident were hospitalized in a Bucharest hospital. The woman, admitted to the intensive care unit of the Floreasca hospital, was extubated, is conscious and has been communicating with her family. Four of the 13 victims of the accident will be discharged on Sunday.
