The announcement of two new 48-hour strikes from dawn on Tuesday, December 27, was announced by the Panhellenic Union of Tug Crews and Rescue Crews.

The workers are asking the two employers’ organizations to sign new collective labor agreements with bonuses based on actual conditions in inflationary conditions, and tomorrow there will be a meeting at the Ministry of Shipping.

“After the last meeting with the employer, with his position of zero increase in relation to existing conditions, we move, following the decision of the General Assembly, to the only measure of pressure left to us, to the strike mobilization that we had. suspended,” he emphasizes in a statement from the union.

At the same time, he adds that with a high sense of responsibility towards those involved, the Panhellenic Union of Towing Brigades is ready for a new dialogue and the search for an acceptable solution.

It is noted that last Saturday, December 17, the Panhellenic Union of Tug Crews and Rescuers suspended previously announced mobilizations, entering into a dialogue with shipowners.

The International Maritime Union expressed concern that the possible mobilization of tugboats during the height of the holiday season would lead to hundreds of containers of perishable products being stuck in the country’s commercial ports, and demanded the intervention of the Ministry of Shipping.
