Two people were killed after a shooting shortly before noon on Friday in the 10th arrondissement of Paris, and a man was arrested and taken into custody, prosecutors said, as quoted by AFP.
The events took place on rue d’Angien, near the Kurdish cultural center in a busy shopping district popular with the Kurdish community.
Criminal proceedings have been opened for murder and aggravated violence. According to the Paris prosecutor’s office, the preliminary balance is two dead and four wounded, two of whom are in serious condition.
The suspect is a French citizen and is known for two assassination attempts in 2016 and December 2021, police sources said.
The alleged author, who is 69 years old, is not identified in the files of the territorial intelligence services and the Directorate General of Homeland Security (DGSI), the same source said. “The killer himself (also wounded) was taken to the hospital,” said District 10 Mayor Alexandra Cordebard.
