The Associated Press reports that it has discovered what it believes to be more than 10,000 new graves dug in an area of mass graves near the Russian-occupied Ukrainian city of Mariupol.
The news agency made this estimate – at least 10,300 new graves in and around Mariupol (the majority in the Stary Krym mass grave, located northwest of Mariupol) – after analyzing videos and recordings taken by a drone during the Russian occupation of the city, from March to December .
Multiple bodies may be buried in each grave, the Associated Press reported, noting that the city’s death toll could far exceed the 25,000 deaths estimated by city officials in exile.
It is also believed that the Russian occupiers plan to demolish about 50,000 houses in the city.
