Kazakhstan National Company “KazMunayGas” (KMG) is considering the possibility of trial transportation of oil to Germany, according to the operator’s website, the AKIpress agency reports, citing Rador.
Kazakh oil will be exported through the Druzhba pipeline to the oil refinery in Schwedt in eastern Germany (federal state of Brandenburg).
The refinery has an annual capacity of more than 10 million tons of crude oil and supplies fuel to Berlin and much of eastern Germany.
The issue of deliveries was discussed by the Chairman of the Board of KazMunayGas, Magzum Mirzagaliev, with the State Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Economy of Germany, Michael Kellner, and the Member of the Bundestag, Christian Gerke.
“The deputy of the Bundestag expressed interest in the stable supply of raw materials from Kazakhstan through the Druzhba oil pipeline.” The head of KMG confirmed the possibility of exporting Kazakh oil to Germany through this pipeline, but noted the need to resolve contractual and technical issues,” the message reads.
Mirzagaliev explained that the volume of oil exports is supplied through the sole system trader KMG Trading at the company’s refinery in Romania, and the rest is sold under long-term contracts.
However, “KazMunayGas” is considering the possibility of trial delivery of oil to Germany already in January 2023, according to the instructions of President Kasym-Zhumart Tokayev.
Earlier, the German Ministry of Economy reported that oil refineries in Schwedt and Loin next year will not buy oil from Russia, but have reserved capacity in Kazakhstan.
