
Ukrainian border guards who are building fortifications on the banks of the Dnieper River have discovered the remains of an ancient Roman settlement, Ukrainian border guards said on Tuesday, CNN reports.
“Debris of amphorae and vessels began to float to the surface at a depth of about one meter,” the border police reported.

“The army has informed local archaeologists about the find and has suspended construction work at the site to preserve valuable historical artifacts,” the Border Service said.
According to the border guards, after the “victory” an “archaeological expedition” will begin work on the site.
