Russian President Vladimir Putin will outline his military’s goals for 2023 at a meeting with senior military officials on Wednesday, the Kremlin said on Tuesday, days before Moscow’s offensive in Ukraine marks the 10-month mark.

“Vladimir Putin will hold an extended meeting of the Ministry of Defense of Russia (…) The results of the activities of the Russian armed forces in 2022 will be summarized, the tasks for the next year will be determined,” the Kremlin said in a statement. .

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu will take part in the meeting, in particular, to “report on the progress of the military special operation” in Ukraine and the supply of weapons to the armed forces, the Kremlin added.

About 15,000 Russian military personnel will take part in this event via video conference.

A senior US State Department official said on Tuesday that there are conflicting opinions in Russia about whether to launch a counteroffensive in Ukraine.
