Labor Minister Marius Budai says there are no delays in the implementation of the pension system reform, announcing that a draft law aimed at this aspect will be submitted for inter-ministerial approval on Tuesday. The minister clarifies that changes in this system will not be adopted through an emergency decree, but in parliament, News.ro reports.
The Labor Minister said there were no delays in pension reform and that he had had “no direct discussion with the Prime Minister” on the subject.
“During this year, discussions were held with the World Bank and the European Commission. In discussions with the European Commission, the European Commission urged us to take our time, because the deadline of December 31 is not a deadline when the implementation of the PNRR can be jeopardized. On the contrary, it was your proposal to discuss, and we are in touch every day,” Budai said on Romanian television on Monday evening.
He emphasized that “we are seriously discussing” with specialists from abroad the subject of the pension system modification project, and among the agreed topics is that the pension cannot be higher than the income during the period of activity.
When asked when the draft changes to the pension system will become a normative act, the minister replied that it will go for interdepartmental approval.
“Today he has already gone to the Higher Council of Magistracy, tomorrow (Tuesday – no) he will go for interdepartmental approval, after which it will be approved by the Government and brought to the parliament for discussion. I was very clear, and I think the leaders of the coalition, Marcel Čolaku and Nicolae Chuke, were very clear when we said and everyone promised that there would be no emergency decree, and the European Commission appreciated that very much,” added Marius Buds. .
The Minister of Labor added that he rules out the idea of changes in support measures aimed at increasing pensions and other financial assistance, which have already been announced by the government coalition.
