President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Sunday published a message on his Instagram account that he tried to convey to the whole world before the final of the World Cup in Qatar, but FIFA rejected his request, considering that it violates the principle of political neutrality.
“This World Cup proves once again that disputes between peoples and countries should be resolved in a fair game, not in a game with fire,” Zelensky said, referring to the war that Russia launched against his country in February.
“When players compete, we all enjoy peace,” added President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, also asking in his message to help restore peace in Ukraine.
“Let’s watch the final of the World Cup together! And let’s see the end of the war together!”, – he concludes his message, which he would like to broadcast live before the start of the Argentina-France final, at a moment of huge audience around the world, Agerpres notes.
