Russian troops may launch a “large-scale offensive” in Ukraine by the end of January or early February, despite successive defeats and military difficulties, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said on Tuesday, The Guardian reported.
Moscow is preparing to launch a major offensive in early 2023 as it continues to attack Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, Kuleba said.
Speaking to journalists from a bomb shelter in the center of Kyiv, the Ukrainian minister said:
“I think that Russia’s ability to conduct an offensive, perhaps even a large-scale one, can be restored sometime in late January – February. That’s what he’s trying to do. And, of course, we do everything possible to prevent this from happening.”
Russia “definitely still hopes that they will be able to break through our lines and advance deeper into Ukraine,” Kuleba said, pointing to “the mobilization they have announced, the training of recruits and the movement of heavy weapons into the country.” .
