US President Joe Biden said on Monday that he does not plan to send US troops to Ukraine, CNN reports.
“Will we introduce troops into Ukraine? No, we are sending, as we have been doing, millions of dollars worth of materials,” Biden told reporters traveling with him to Virginia when asked if his administration plans to send troops to Ukraine.
In November, the Biden administration appealed to Congress for additional funding to continue supporting Ukraine.
Director of Management and Budget Shalanda Young sent a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi with a detailed request for $37.7 billion in aid to Ukraine.
The request for Ukraine is divided among four US government departments, according to a fact sheet provided by CNN.
Young wrote to Pelosi that the request “will ensure Ukraine has the funding, weapons and support it needs to defend itself, and that vulnerable people will continue to receive vital assistance. The request also addresses critical global food and energy shortages caused by the Russian invasion.”
