Fans of James Cameron have been waiting for the movie “Avatar: The Path of Water” for 13 years. Journalists and others who attended the London premiere say it will be a step up from the 2009 original, with great action and visuals, and better character detail.

The film, which opens in theaters on December 16, is being criticized for running 3 hours and 10 minutes, which is 30 minutes longer than the first adventure on Pandora (so it’s best to avoid beer or juice before the movie, especially since you’ll also see a lot of water). Another criticism concerns the large number of characters, which makes it difficult to follow. But still, it seems that James Cameron is once again achieving what many did not think he was capable of.

Many are already praising him for his vision in Avatar 2, using words like “breathtaking visuals,” “a visual masterpiece” and “absolute delight.” Critics will publish their impressions on December 13, while audiences wait to see if they can maintain their appreciation of the original film.

“Avatar” broke the box office record that Cameron held for 12 years with “Titanic”. Avengers: Endgame overtook Avatar in 2019, but the re-release of Avatar in Japan brought it back to the top spot in 2021. “Avatar 2” will have to repeat the success of the original. to attract even more followers

The second in a long series of episodes, Avatar 2 will bring back many of the characters played by Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang and more. Sigourney Weaver will also return in a new role, and the new cast will also include Kate Winslet.

Following the death of her character Dr. Grace in the first film, Sigourney Weaver will return as Kira, the adopted teenage daughter of Jake (Worthington) and Neytiri (Saldana).

Decades after the battle with Earthlings, the world of Pandora is once again under threat of destruction. Residents face a tough battle with unknown and ruthless aliens, in which Jake must risk everything, even his own life in a new body.

Cameron also directed the third episode and began production on the fourth. They are planned for 2024 and 2026, and the fifth – for 2028. Cameron’s goal is to create his own world, like in “Lord of the Rings”. If Peter Jackson’s films were adaptations of books, Cameron claims that he had to write his own books (actually scripts) and then translate them to the screen.

Although the film is being produced and distributed by Disney’s 20th Century Fox, Cameron warns, “Don’t bring the kids!”

The premiere of the film “The Way of Water” will take place in Romanian cinemas on December 16, two days after its international debut.
