According to Salvamont Maramures, four citizens of Ukraine – three men and one woman – aged between 30 and 32 years crossed the border from Ukraine to Romania on Wednesday morning, but got lost due to weather conditions and extremely difficult terrain in the mountainous part of Poinile de. Sub-Munte District, Maramures County.

“The four cannot be contacted, but the person who called 112 this evening and contacted a relative of these four reported that one of the people is no longer in touch, and the others complain that they are very cold. and please help! In the area that I have determined, the altitude is over 1,600 meters, it has snowed in recent days, about 60-80 cm of snow, and the route to the place where the coordinates of the four were confirmed by phone to the subscriber is approximately 7-8 hours of walking with the provided equipment,” the mountain rescuers clarified .

Thus, the first response team of SPJ Salvamont Maramureş, consisting of six mountain rescuers equipped for winter conditions, moved with a special vehicle to where there is access, intending to start the mountain with an extremely difficult route for both relief and time travel

Another team consisting of six more mountain rescuers will go to support the first team, will be located at the place where the first team will leave the resuscitation vehicle to climb the mountain, and from there will try to establish contact with the first team to extract four citizens of Ukraine from the mountain during the night.

“Unfortunately, there is no phone signal in the area at all, and because of the topography, the area gives us a weak signal even on the stations we have,” the source said.
