Genoa player Manolo Portanova was sentenced on Tuesday to six years in prison in the case of a gang rape that took place in Siena in 2021.
In 2021, Portanova was accused of gang sexual violence against a 20-year-old young woman.
Along with Manolo (age 22), his brother William (then a minor), their cousin and a friend were also accused. The act took place on the night of May 30-31, 2021, in an apartment in the historic center of Siena.
On June 10, 2021, Portanova was placed under house arrest for one month. In September 2022, the player’s lawyer presented an official proposal for compensation for moral damages, but the young woman’s lawyers rejected the proposal, writes News.ro.
Portanova played for the U19 and U23 teams of Juventus Turin, and Genoa paid €12 million to sign the midfielder (January 2021). Manolo is a colleague of Radu Dragushin in the Serie B group.
