The restriction on the amount of liquids in hand luggage has been canceled since Monday also at Timisoara International Airport. At the same time, passengers no longer need to remove their electronic devices for inspection, News.ro reports.
Officials at Trajan Vuya International Airport in Timisoara say restrictions on liquids in hand luggage will be lifted and electronics will no longer be checked.
“Timisoara International Airport “Trajan Vuya” joins airports where security control becomes much faster and easier, the limit on the amount of liquids, aerosols and gels exceeding 100 milliliters is abolished. Passengers will be relieved of stress by placing containers in plastic bags for scanning separately from hand luggage. The same applies to electronics, laptops and their accessories will pass through the scanners without removing them from the luggage.
The implementation of this modern security control system was made possible after the purchase of the latest specialized equipment at the expense of grant funding received through the Major Infrastructure Operational Program 2014-2020,” said the press release sent on Monday by airport representatives.
The implementation of the scanning system was achieved thanks to the cooperation of Timisoara International Airport with the Anti-Terrorist Brigade of the Romanian Intelligence Service and the Romanian Civil Aviation Authority.
According to the quoted source, the most important gain is the reduction in the processing time of passengers during security screening.
“This information is certainly good news for most passengers traveling from Timisoara to other destinations. However, they would do well to take note of the fact that these rules in effect today on AIT TV do not apply at any airport where they are about to arrive. “An effective measure to save them from complications is to check the security conditions at the airports where they fly, with the support of the airlines through which they buy tickets,” said the representatives of the Timisoara airport.
In June, Cluj International Airport announced that it had become the first in the country and one of the few in Europe where passengers no longer need to remove liquids and electronic devices from their carry-on luggage during security after purchasing high-performance equipment as part of a European project. Security control is carried out by the anti-terrorist brigade of the DRI.
