“Wednesday“, his series “dark fantasy” Netflix which is essentially a spin-off of the Addams Family movies, has achieved very fast success and tops the list of the platform’s top 10 series a week after its release on November 23, 2022.

Television project, the first four episodes of which were filmed by the director Tim Burton, consists of eight chapters starring Jenna Ortega as Gomez and Morticia Adams’ daughter Wednesday. The parents send their daughter to a boarding school for young people with supernatural powers and special characteristics (some wolves, etc.). During her stay there, she will discover that a serial killer is on the loose and therefore she will have to find the solution to the mystery. Since there are many suspects around her, the mission is not an easy one.

Hours after watching, platform subscribers and fans of Addams Family stories are wondering if there will be a sequel.

Speaking to the website Variety, co-creator Miles Millar said that he and co-creator Alfred Goode laid out the structure of what they want to do in case a second season is made. “We’re always looking to the future, and when we get together to create a series, ideally we have several seasons in mind. This was never expected, but we hope that shortly before the release of the first episode, the series will be successful. You always think about character development for at least three or four seasons.”

But is Netflix agreeing to renew Wednesday?

The popular streaming platform has yet to officially announce the return of the series for a second round of episodes, but the creators are hoping to expand Wentstay’s story. After all, as they stated, “there’s so much more to explore in Addams’ world.”

Meanwhile, star Jenna Ortega has told the NME website that she doesn’t know if she will return to the role.
