The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, in his address on Sunday evening, said that Ukrainians are facing a difficult winter, but this should be seen as a period of time that brings them closer to victory, writes News.ro. “We are protecting our home, and this is the strongest motivation,” Zelenskyi said.
- “The fourth day of this winter is coming to an end. Winter, which will obviously be difficult. But still, this winter should not be looked at as a test, but as a time – a time that brings us closer to the main thing – victory. Each of these 90 days is winter. The enemy really hopes to use winter against us: to make the cold and hardships of winter part of his terror. We must do everything to survive this winter, no matter how hard it is. And we will resist.”
- “To endure this winter is to protect everything. Russia still has missiles and an artillery advantage. Yes, but we have something that the occupiers do not have and will not have. We protect our home and this is the strongest motivation. We are fighting for freedom, and this multiplies all forces. We stand for the truth, and this unites the whole world around Ukraine. We see happy people when they meet the Ukrainian flag in liberated cities. And this means that we are expected everywhere, where there is still an occupation. They wait and believe that Ukraine will return. They are waiting, and I know very well: if Russia invades, it will not be forever,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
He emphasized that Ukrainians should help each other survive the winter.
- “To survive this winter, more than ever, we need to help each other, take care of each other and even more. And please don’t ask if you can help or how. Just help when you see you can. To survive the winter, we must be even more resilient and united than ever. There can be no internal conflicts and strife that can weaken us all, even if someone out there thinks it will strengthen him personally. We need more interaction than ever. All of Ukraine must become a great Point of Invincibility and work every day, work every night. The state, companies, people – all of us, Ukrainians, all together.”
- “A lot was done this fall to strengthen the state’s position and defeat the occupier. Everything must be done to be able to say that even after this winter. Ukrainians worked around the clock to restore normal life after the Russian attack. And no matter how great the terror of the occupiers was, our desire to restore everything was always even greater. It should be anyway.”
- “Our defense forces are firmly holding their positions. How many times did the occupiers plan to seize the whole of Donbas, to be in Bakhmut… How many times have they announced new terms of their offensive, their victories… Our guys are real heroes. And this is our main mission – both for the state and for the people – to do everything to support our defense, strengthen the defense, find everything necessary for our defense,” he added.
The President of Ukraine ended his speech with words of support and thanks:
- “I know how difficult it is in Bakhmut, in Donbas. Guys, hold on! I am with you. People are with you. In order to successfully carry out this mission, we must always support each other to do just that. And I thank all those who help to strengthen Ukraine and who after this winter will surely be able to say that the closeness of our victory is also his personal result, a personal achievement.”
