
The State Jewish Theater on Sunday announced with deep pain the death of actor Cornel Chupercescu. The funeral will take place on Tuesday, December 6, from 11:00 a.m. at Bellou Cemetery.
“The State Jewish Theater is deeply saddened to announce the death of our colleague and friend, actor Cornel Chupercescu,” the institution said. “A graduate of the ILCaragiale Institute of Theater and Cinematographic Art in the class of Professor George Carabin (class of 1970), Cornel Ciupercescu played numerous roles at the Ploiesti Municipal Theater – Ricci Venturiano in O NOAPTE FURTUNOASĂ (IL Caragiale, dir. Marseille Angleescu), Valer in “SCRUPA” (Moliere, directed by Harry Eliade), Malcolm in “Macbeth” (William Shakespeare, directed by Aureliu Manea), and also in the State Theater of Tirgu-Mureş – Bose in STONE FOREST (Sherwood). Anderson, director G. Kharag), Tase in SUSPICION PERSON (author Sterea Popovichi, director Eugen Markus),” the Theater reports on Facebook.
Since 1990, he has been an actor at the State Jewish Theater for nearly three decades, in roles such as Saladin in Nathan the Wise by H.E. Friedrich Dürrenmatt, directed by: Kincses Elemer, Golem, in GOLEM, H. Leivik, directed by Catalina Buzoianu or Ulrich von Hutten, in ELEGIUL NEBUNIEII, Dumitru Solomon, directed by Jon Koyar. Cornel Čupercescu also had an exceptional cinematic career, playing the role of Nicolae Bălcescu (in LA RĂSCRUCEA MARILOR FURTUNI, directed by Mircea Moldovan) or Franz Sletinian, in CASTELUL DIN CARPAţI, directed by Stere Gulea. The funeral will take place on Tuesday, December 6, from 11:00 a.m. at Bellou Cemetery.
