The new Opel Astra is now also electric

Opel opens a new pioneering chapter in its history with the new Astra: today the German manufacturer has revealed the first photos of the new Opel Astra Electric.

The new Opel Astra Electric electrifies customers as it offers pure zero-emission driving pleasure. The electric motor develops 115 kW/156 hp. and powerful 270 Nm of torque – both immediately available at the first touch of the throttle for dynamic starts and impressive acceleration. And while other electric vehicles have a top speed limit of 150 km/h or 160 km/h, the new Astra Electric has a top speed of 170 km/h. In addition, the Astra Electric driver can choose between Eco, Normal and Sport modes depending on their driving style.

Energy is stored in a 54 kWh lithium-ion battery located under the front and rear seats, providing maximum space for passengers and their luggage, as well as a low center of gravity for a more dynamic driving experience. The new Astra Electric can travel up to 416 kilometers without emissions (according to the WLTP1 cycle). It consumes just 12.7kWh per 100km (14.9kWh on the WLTP cycle), making it perfect for everyday use, but also great for long-distance travel. When the all-electric Astra needs to be recharged, a short stop at the charging station is enough. The Astra Electric battery can be charged up to 80% capacity in about 30 minutes at a 100kW DC fast charging station.
