In more detail, in his testimony, the driver of the vehicle stated, among other things, that: “What I did was an evasive maneuver to prevent the victim from being run over by an unlawful person in my path on the roadway. (…) Suddenly, driving through Egnatia, I notice a girl passing in front of my car and moving towards the height of the dividing line. The victim accidentally tried to cross the street vertically to my right, while there was a pedestrian crossing thirty meters from me. He moved dangerously from the monument towards the sea, to a point where there was no crossing, while he even saw how the car was going right in his movement.

Her movement was sudden for me, who noticed it at the last moment. According to the rules of the road, he had to avoid such unpredictable and dangerous driving behavior. Seeing this sudden and completely sudden movement of hers, I instinctively reacted by slamming on the brakes and taking an evasive maneuver to the left so as not to crash into her. Unfortunately, this was not possible. The loss of control was also likely caused by bad rear tires. I was scared as I don’t have legal papers to stay in the country, and horrified by the shock of the incident, I made the wrong decision and left the scene.”

“After the shock, I started yelling at him to return to the girl”

“We were moving along Egnatia Street in the direction from east to west. After we passed the universities and before reaching Kamara, I felt more that something was wrong, as the driver of the car made a sharp movement and at the same time the car began to slide to the left, i.e. into the opposite lane. traffic, which was strange. I took my eyes off my mobile and suddenly saw a girl in front of the car, who was crossing Egnatia vertically and from right to left in relation to our direction and in a place where there was no pedestrian crossing. Trying to avoid a collision, the driver braked hard and made a maneuver that I felt a split second back to the left, causing the car to slide to the left and into oncoming traffic. Then, to my horror and surprise, the driver accelerated and drove away. As I started to recover from the shock, I started yelling almost hysterically to the driver that we had to get back and I wanted to get out of the car.”
