Transport problem in the old city remains acute national road Athens-Corinth due to diversion of vehicular traffic towards Athens. after a big crashthat happened at dawn on the new Athens-Corinth highway. The landslide occurred 48.5 kilometers from the second tunnel at Kakia Skala.
The traffic police are diverting vehicle traffic on the old national highway from the Kineta junction to the Megara junction. Cars move at a very low speed, stopping periodically.
According to APE, specialists and crews are at the site of the landslide, removing the stone from the pavement and studying the phenomenon, while it is not known when the road will be opened to traffic again.
According to an update from Olympia Odos, “A small queue was created at the beginning of the diversion, which gradually recovered, and at this time there is a relatively smooth flow. Earlier and for a few minutes there was also a blockade of P.E.O. so that climbers can drop individual pieces of rock in a controlled manner.”
The company says engineers and mountaineers are on the scene, carrying out the necessary work to record the incident using a drone and visually monitor the rock barriers. This will be followed by the dismantling and restoration of the pavement, while the operation time cannot be estimated.
