CFR Călători can, upon request and for a fee, provide commercial services using the beneficiary’s own staff and rolling stock,” the company’s press release states.

On the occasion of December 1, 80 people will walk with “spritz and violinists” in the Royal train. The ticket costs 500 euros and the event is sold out. The Royal House of Romania considers the event “blasphemy”.
“We celebrate the National Day of Romania at the level of art. Travel back in time with the ROYAL TRAIN, on the route Bucharest – Sinaia, which will remind you of the past. This is one of the few times when the Royal Train will host a unique experience,” the event page says.
The trip by the Royal Train to the party on the occasion of the National Day of Romania was supposed to take place on the route Banyasa station – Sinaia and back.
The royal family reacted strongly to the news that the royal train would be used for the party.
Who rented the royal train
The railway travel company SFT CFR SA has leased the Royal Train since December 1, Europa Liberă reports.
Rail travel company SFT CFR SA is insolvent and is being controlled by judicial administrator Gabriel Iorgulescu.
“Tourist railway company “SFT – CFRSA” – in a state of bankruptcy, has in its heritage the rolling stock of the era, respectively the Royal Train, Moldova Train, Kalugareni Train, Dracula Train, steam locomotives, etc. (…) The enterprise does not receive subsidies from the state budget, providing income exclusively from the lease of railway property (buildings, terminals, cantons, etc.) and tourist service of passenger trains, which are part of the old rolling stock.” , – said Yorgulescu for Free Europe.
He also said that the rental, especially of the Royal Train, is carried out only for events “of cultural and scientific interest, promoting the cultural history and traditions of Romania, without in any way violating the name of the ancient train and all its positions and symbols.”
A company representative says he has spoken with representatives of the royal household, who have informed him that this year it will not be chartering the train for December 1, as it has in past years.
