“The amount of accumulated funds for our initiative “Grains from Ukraine” is growing and already exceeds 180 million US dollars. This is already one of the largest Ukrainian humanitarian initiatives in history. And it will be even bigger,” Volodymyr Zelenskyi said on Monday in his video address, which is broadcast every evening.

“Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Great Britain, Greece, Estonia, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Canada, Qatar, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Germany, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, USA, Turkey, Hungary, Finland, France, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Sweden, and the European Union have already announced their financial, technical or logistical contribution to the “Grain from Ukraine” initiative – this is a significant participation. The Republic of Korea and Japan are added to them – from the first days. And also NATO. And, of course, the UN,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy listed.

“I am grateful to everyone who participates,” said the Ukrainian president.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy first talked about this Ukrainian initiative on November 18, and then officially launched it on Saturday, November 26, through an international food security summit, which was attended by participants from more than 30 countries, in person or online. The “Grains from Ukraine” program is presented as a humanitarian initiative that aims to save millions of people from starvation.

“This program involves the purchase by partners of food products from Ukrainian producers and sending them to countries in Africa and Asia that are on the verge of starvation. This will make it possible to organize international support for Ukrainian agriculture, protect cultivated areas, support production, improve supply chains and find international customers to guarantee the purchase of Ukrainian food products,” the press service of the President of Ukraine reported.

At a conference in Lithuania on Friday, President Klaus Iohannis said that so far the authorities in Bucharest have facilitated the entry of almost 3 million Ukrainians into Romania and facilitated the export of more than 7 million tons of Ukrainian grain through Romania.

“Romania’s support to Ukraine will remain multi-dimensional and complex, it will act in several directions: political, economic, including reconstruction, financial, humanitarian, through the instruments of international law, the search for responsibility and the fight against impunity, transport and agriculture. Regarding the recovery of Ukraine, I showed that there is a great need for the help of the international community and that Romania is ready to be a part of this effort,” Iohannis said.
