
According to Tion.ro, the famous skier and university professor Daniel Vigi, founder of the Timisoara Society and Civic Alliance, died on Saturday morning in the district hospital in Timisoara.
Western University of Timisoara and Mayor Dominik Fritz proposed that the writer Daniel Vigi, a founding member of the Timisoara Society, Civic Alliance and Rearguard Cultural Association, be awarded the title of Honorary Citizen of the Municipality of Timisoara. The proposal was approved by the deputies of the local council on November 15.
Daniel Vigi was born on October 9, 1956 in the city of Lipova in the county of Arad and was a Romanian novelist, essayist and publicist. In 1980, he graduated from the Faculty of Philology of the University of Timisoara.
In December 1989, he participated in the protest movements in Timişoara, which sparked the anti-communist revolution. He was a professor of modern Romanian literature at the Faculty of Literature, History and Theology at the Western University in Timisoara.
