Giorgis Massavetas: journalist and writer dies

The journalist and writer passed away at the age of 78. Giorgis Massavetas.

He was a political editor, columnist, and editor-in-chief for several newspapers (mainly Eleftherotype and the local press), and stood out for his cartoons.

The sad news was announced in a Facebook post by the son of the journalist Alexandros.

In particular, Alexandros Massavetas wrote on Facebook:

“I feel the need to tell you why I am not returning your calls and messages, and also why my last post was on the 16th of the month.”

Here’s what George would say if he wrote this post himself.

As he prophesied on November 10, unfortunately, he is no longer with us.

“Whoever you love, show it to them while they are alive, after death… Forgive me,” he once said.

Those who were in his life, loved him and supported him, those who honored him with their true friendship, were lucky enough to take a place in his heart.

In this huge heart, he left his wife, children, grandchildren, true friends and partners.

He always scoffed at loud talk, hated pomp and pomp. He hated “licking” and flattery.

On such occasions, he always grimaced in disgust.

Honoring everything he believed in, we will say goodbye to him in a close family circle.

Unable to answer your messages and calls, but thank you very much for your love and interest. We know that you are on our side.

His Facebook page will be open for the next 40 days for those who want to say goodbye to him here.

We ask those who wish to honor his memory to support the “Child’s Smile”, which he appreciated so much.

His companion Iphigenia
His children Annette and Alexandros
His grandchildren are Angelos and Philippos.
