Danish screenwriter of the hits White Bottom and The Hunt Tobias Lindholm goes behind the camera to tell a chilling story based on a true story on behalf of Netflix. Amy (Jessica Chastain) is a compassionate nurse who, however, suffers from a form of heart disease that makes it difficult for her to cope with the drudgery of daily work as well as taking care of her two young daughters. An unexpected help comes from Charlie (Eddie Redmayne), a new nurse who Amy soon befriends. However, as will be seen, he hides dark secrets that will gradually begin to surface.

Lindholm was fortunate to have two of the most important actors of the forties generation at his disposal, and he does not lose sight of them. Jessica Chastain and Eddie Redmayne make a great duo who go together until they have to run into each other in the second part of the movie. The two police detectives also play an active role there as the case of the patient’s possible murder begins to build and the circle around Charlie narrows. In addition to the class of protagonists, Lindholm also bets on the (menacing) atmosphere in the film without taking more risks than what we’re used to on the online platform.

Somewhere in Los Angeles, Sam (Andrew Garfield), a young man without a job or special ambitions, spends time aimlessly until he meets the beautiful Sarah (Riley Keough). However, she soon mysteriously disappears and he begins a quest full of strange encounters to find her.

Surrealism is the key word for characterizing Mitchell’s film, which leaves aside the particular use of the camera in It Follows to introduce us to another oddity that is almost exclusively associated with ’90s pop culture: secret message vinyl records. , cards hidden in cornflakes, video game allusions, and an older guy at the piano who claims to have written “Smells Like Teen Spirit” for Nirvana, as well as almost every popular song of the last 50 years.
