FIFA has banned any form of support for the LGBTQ+ community and this has led to a ban on captain’s armbands with the message “One Love”. Dissatisfied with the decision of the forum led by Gianni Infantino, German football players made a kind of message before the match against Japan.

Belgium’s national soccer team recently learned that they are not allowed to use the second kit they have for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. FIFA took this decision after the word “Love” was printed on the shirts.

Seven out of nine European countries have announced that they have dropped the One Love bandwagon.which promotes LGBTQ+ integration and rights.

In a press release, the seven national teams of the old continent said that they have abandoned the initiative, which involved the wearing of the “One Love” armband.

England, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Switzerland and Wales have rejected this form of protest against Qatar, a country that criminalises same-sex relationships.

FIFA has launched its own captain’s armband as part of a social campaign run in conjunction with the United Nations, which will promote a separate campaign for each round of the tournament. The theme of the quarterfinals will be “no discrimination,” but no LGBTQ+ rights are mentioned in any of the campaigns.
