The pursuit by the port guards of a foreign slave trader who transported illegal immigrants to Kos was episodic.
In the morning hours of Thursday (17.11), according to information from a military observation post, a patrol boat of the Port Authority of Kalymnos discovered a T/X polyester boat without navigation lights, which had just disembarked a sufficient number of foreign passengers in the SCANDARIO area, Kos.
The operator of the vessel in question did not respond to the light and sound signals of the patrol vessel LS-EL.AKT., which was speeding towards the opposite coasts of Turkey. A pursuit ensued during which the T/X in question made dangerous maneuvers resulting in the firing of warning shots in a safe area. Subsequently, aimed shots were fired at the boat’s outboard engine, which was immobilized and its 32-year-old operator was arrested as a smuggler.
After a thorough investigation in the wider area, four foreigners were identified who did not have legal papers, two of whom were arrested because the other two were minors.
A preliminary investigation is being conducted by the Port Authority of Kos.
