At least 437 Ukrainian children were killed as a result of the Russian invasion, the General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine said on Saturday, Reuters and News.ro reported.
More than 837 children were also injured. Ukrainian officials say the figure is “not final” as they are still verifying information from active combat zones, liberated areas and territories still occupied by Russian forces.
The eastern part of Donetsk region was the most affected, where 423 children were killed or injured, the prosecutor’s office reported.
The United Nations has announced that at least 16,295 civilians have been killed since Russia’s February 24 invasion, which Kyiv and Western leaders condemned as an act of unprovoked aggression.
Moscow denies attacks on civilians.
