As of today, the entire Sebes-Turda motorway (A10) is a 4-lane road, Christian Pistole, CEO of the National Road Infrastructure Management Company (CNAIR), announced on Saturday.
“We have opened the highway to traffic on a 1.5-kilometer stretch of Oieidea Hill,” he said on his Facebook page, also posting several photos from the area.
“Traffic on lot 2 of the Sebes-Turda highway was opened last year, in November 2021, but is limited to one lane in one direction in the Oyeidea hill area due to some landslides,” Pistole added.
How the Oyeidea Hill segment looks now:
And how was the traffic on Friday in the section where there was only one lane in each direction:
The last 25-kilometer section of the A 10 Sebeş-Turda highway was opened to traffic on November 30, 2021, without completing all the works.
Thus, after 7 years after the signing of the contract for this highway, it was possible to travel continuously between Sibiu and Cluj.
However, in the area of Oyeidea Hill, on a stretch of 1.5 kilometers long, traffic was running a year ago and until now, only one lane in each direction, according to the national highway regime, with a speed limit. 60 km/h.
The entire A10 highway is about 70 km long and connects the A1 highway (Sebes) with the Transylvanian highway A3 (Turda).
