British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said on Monday that Russia is becoming a “rogue state”, according to the British news agency PA.
In comments to reporters traveling with him to the G20 summit in Bali, Indonesia – the first since Russia invaded Ukraine in February – Sunak said it was a “revelation” that Putin would not attend the event, the PA reported.
“It is significant that Putin is not there. Russia is becoming a rogue state, and he cannot take responsibility for what he is doing,” Sunak told reporters, PA reported.
Asked how he planned to speak with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at the G20, Sunak said he would “use the opportunity to unequivocally condemn the Russian state and Putin for their heinous and illegal war.”
