US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said that some sanctions against Russia may remain in place even after any peace agreement with Ukraine, the Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday, Reuters reports.
Yellen said any possible peace deal would involve revising the sanctions the United States and its allies have imposed on Russia’s economy, the WSJ reported.
“I would suggest that in the context of a peace agreement, an adjustment of sanctions is possible and may be appropriate,” Yellen said in an interview in Indonesia, where she is attending the G20 summit.
