
An alarm sounded at the airport Email Venizelos on two Emirates flights bound for Dubai and New York, after receiving information from the competent US authorities about an Arab passenger who was considered a “suspect” of terrorism.
According to US authorities, the suspect may have boarded one of two Emirates flights.

After the Greek authorities were informed, the Dubai-bound plane was stopped before takeoff and the passengers were subsequently checked, but nothing came of it.
As for flight EK209, which was bound for New York, it returned to Athens shortly before 22:00, escorted by two F-16 fighters, as provided for in the relevant protocol.
Passengers are currently being tested.
