
A 47-year-old Greek and a 40-year-old foreigner were arrested yesterday (September 11) in a spontaneous procedure in Athens by police officers of the Athens Security Subdivision of the Attica Security Directorate, as members of a gang that committed robberies by profession, serially and sequentially. In addition, a 33-year-old Greek woman and a 41-year-old foreigner were arrested individually for violating laws on weapons, drugs and supporting a criminal.
According to ELAS, in the course of an increase in reported cases of armed and knife robberies in shops over the recent period in the area of Kolonos and Agios Panteleimonas, two men were identified and their criminal activities were confirmed. Two members of the gang were arrested by a police team that was set up to locate them, and a 40-year-old man tried to escape during the arrest.
During searches conducted in their homes, among other things, the following were found and seized: a replica pistol, a bayonet-knife with a blade length of 30 cm, knives, 2 cartridges, pepper spray, 39 grams. cannabis, precision electronic scales and clothes used in robberies.
As a result of the preliminary investigation of the Athens sub-directorate of security, a total of 5 cases of robbery were identified at two gas stations, a bakery, a convenience store and a pawnshop.
The arrested were taken to the criminal prosecutor’s office in Athens.
