
On Thursday, Germany pledged to send additional military aid to Ukraine, including three IRIS-T SLM air defense systems and IRIS-T missiles, according to a statement released by the German government, CNN reported, citing News.ro.
Kyiv requested additional German IRIS-T SLM units in late October after being the target of Russian missile attacks for several days.
During a visit to Ukraine at the end of October, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier called the high-tech IRIS-T SLM system “one of the most advanced air defense systems in the world.”
Germany has already delivered the IRIS-T SLM anti-aircraft missile system to Ukraine.
Berlin said it would also supply Kiev with 42 demining tanks, four mobile mine defense systems, four remote-controlled mobile mine defense systems and five mobile vehicle-based reconnaissance systems.
The German government did not specify a delivery date, but the announcement will be made after the weapons and supplies are delivered, according to the statement.
Germany also said that over the past week it had delivered to Kyiv an unspecified number of IRIS-T SLM missiles, 30 armored personnel carriers (DINGOs), four anti-drone sensors and jamming devices, five M1070 Oshkosh tractor-trailer transport units and additional loader
