The mayor of district 3, Robert Negoitsa, says that he did not change the curbs on Piata Unirii, but installed prefabs for the arrangement of green areas, and these works do not require approvals.
- “No approvals were required here, because we are talking about the construction of green areas, and green areas do not require a building permit. (…) We never changed the curbs.
- We put some collectives that are not curbs, some higher collectives, because there you need height.
- On the one hand, let’s protect green spaces from cars so they can no longer drive through green spaces. On the other hand, we need the amount, the thickness of the soil, so that the plants can live there. So this is nothing but what we have done in everything, which means Sector 3, which is the greenest sector and the greenest urban area in Romania. You don’t have to believe me, the idea would be to go outside to see for yourself,” the mayor said during a press conference, according to Agerpres.
The City Hall of Sector 3 has installed the famous prefabricated curbs and is renovating several areas of Piața Unirii in the capital. Because of the works, the traffic lights did not work for weeks, and the traffic was regulated by the police. The Unirii square is managed by the capital city hall, and in a response to HotNews.ro, representatives of the institution say that the city hall of sector 3 did not ask for their consent.
- “The works carried out by the Municipality of Sector 3 on Piata Unirii are part of the rehabilitation category (replacement of kerbs, repaving, rehabilitation of green areas), so the approval of the Technical Transport Commission is not required (which would be necessary in case of modernization/reconfiguration).
- The agreement in this case (works carried out by the City Hall of Sector 3 – no) falls under the responsibility of the road administrator, which for Piața Unirii is the Bucharest Streets Administration. We would like to inform you that the Street Administration has not received any request for the issuance of a contract for works performed by Sector 3 of the City Hall in the Piaţa Unirii area,” reads the response of the Capital City Hall to HotNews. request .ro.
From what can be seen on the spot, they are arranging stone islands on pedestrian crossings, installing new curbs, bringing in soil and, it seems, they are also arranging a green zone.
