In May DEB Thessaloniki

According to “K”, the 19th International Book Fair in Thessaloniki will be held from May 4 to 7, and with well-deserved literature from the United States. The exhibition was originally scheduled to take place in November of this year, but a few months ago, for reasons that are not yet known, it was decided to postpone it to spring, the time when this event took place in the past. However, some Greek publishers are concerned about the lack of official information from the ministry (characteristically, they were informed about the details of the report from a brochure distributed at the recent Frankfurt International Book Fair), which causes problems in such matters as the timely invitation of American authors, etc.

Merger prohibition

A merger between publishing giants Penguin Random House and Simon & Schuster is unlikely to happen following a US federal court ruling on the Justice Department’s appeal on the same issue. As Judge Florence Peng ruled, the $2.2 million merger would significantly damage competition in the international publishing market, and especially in the U.S. best-selling publishing rights market, which would affect advances and royalties to authors. According to US media reports, Penguin Random House, which was supposed to buy Simon & Schuster, is considering appealing the decision.
