PSD President Marcel Čolaku criticizes Energy Minister Virgil Popescu, saying he “gives the impression that he is qualified for the job,” which he considers “unacceptable” for this portfolio and in the context of the current energy crisis, News .ro reports.
“I do not belong to Virgil Popescu’s fan club. Since last year, there have been many signals that we are heading towards an energy crisis. It was necessary to make quick decisions, not to wait for them to resolve themselves. It gives me the impression that he somehow fit the bill. This is unacceptable for such a portfolio and in such an energy crisis. I have a problem, I have never seen the Ministry of Energy – again a disappointment, at one point they tried to move to other regulatory agencies in the Romanian state – a mistake. May God forgive me, energy policy is formed by the Ministry of Energy,” said Çolaku on Wednesday evening on the B1 TV channel.
The PSD leader admitted that the National Energy Regulatory Authority “has serious mistakes that it must accept”, indicating that the institution should have paid attention to the following situation.
According to him, if no decisions had been made on the energy market in April, inflation would have reached 26%.
