“I intend to run again,” the Democratic leader said at a press conference, adding that it was a “family decision.”

US President Joe Biden on Wednesday hailed a “good day for democracy” after midterm elections in which Democrats performed better than expected against Republicans.

“Yesterday we had an election. And it was a good day, I think, for democracy,” the Democratic president said during a White House news conference, hailing the election that was held “apparently without interference.”

“Although the press and pundits predicted a huge red wave, it didn’t happen,” he added, acknowledging the “disappointment” of many voters with inflation.

The Democratic leader also said he is “ready to work with the Republican opposition,” noting that he is open to all “good ideas.”

More than fifteen hours after the last polls closed, America was still waiting to learn the fate of several crucial and controversial elections, such as those in Arizona and Nevada.

But Republicans were in a good position to take control of the House, while the Senate was still up for grabs.
