PSD President Marcel Čolacu says that he is not currently considering his candidacy for the post of President of Romania. Regarding the possible candidacy of Mircea Joane, supported by the PSD, for the highest post in the state, Cholaku says that it would be difficult for him to accept it, but the decision is not his, according to News.ro.
Cholaku said that “at the moment” he has not made a decision about his possible candidacy for the post of president of Romania.
“If the election is tomorrow, I wouldn’t… I wouldn’t bother or agree to run now. Because the prime minister will be the first challenge for me, we will see later. (…) 99.9% do not think that I will run for the position of president,” said Marcel Cholaku on Wednesday evening on B1 TV.
Asked if he would support PSD-backed Mircea Joane’s candidacy for the top post in the state, Cholaku said it would be difficult for him to accept but it was not his decision.
“He is a potential candidate. It is very difficult for me to accept someone who left the SPD and created a party, but I do not rule it out and do not decide,” the SPD leader explained, indicating that the decision on this matter belongs to those in the territory.
