Mario Balotelli has compared the Swiss Football League (SFL) to a “mafia” in which “corruption”, “injustice” and “incompetence” would reign, RTS radio and television and Le Matin newspaper reported. Now the Italian forward plays for Sion.
Injustice, corruption and incompetence reign supreme in the Swiss Football League
Balotelli, who could have been sent off by the referee in the match between FC Basel and FC Sion after making an obscene gesture towards the home fans, expressed his displeasure on his Instagram account.
“Players like me are not proud to take part in a championship where injustice, corruption and incompetence reign. Football is a job and we all have to take it seriously, including the referees. I will not continue to risk my health on the field without being protected from opponent fouls and fan aggression,” wrote, among other things, the striker who played for such teams as “Inter”, “Manchester City”, “Milan” and Liverpool.
The disciplinary committee of the Swiss Football League temporarily suspended Balotelli for an obscene gesture during the meeting with Basel. The SFL also announced it would be analyzing his social media posts.
Considered a great striker a few years ago, the terror child of Italian football has experienced an unexpected decline. Having reached the age of 32, Balotelli signed this season with “Syon”, after parting with the Turkish team “Adana Demirspor”, writes Agerpres.
