
CFR Infrastructura announced the signing of a financial contract worth 9.36 billion lei for the electrification and rehabilitation of the railway line Cluj-Napoca – Oradea – Bishopric of Bihor. The electrification of this important area has been talked about for more than 3 decades.
Currently, there are few sections where trains exceed the speed of 100 km/h, especially since the route passes through mountainous terrain. The fastest trains have an average speed of 60 km/h.

We have signed a financial contract worth 9.36 billion lei for the electrification and rehabilitation of the Cluj-Napoca – Oradea – Bishopric of Bihor railway line!
Builders have been appointed for all 4 lots of this 166 km target – funded by PNRR.
Lot 1: Cluj-Napoca – Aguireş (30.41 km), RAILWORKS association was recognized as the winner (20.10.2022). Contract for the amount of 1,611,475,802.43 lei, excluding VAT
Lot 2: Aghireș – Poieni (36.53 km) RAILWORKS association was recognized as the winner (2.11.2022) Contract for the amount of 1,535,202,975.30 lei excluding VAT
Lot 3: Poieni – Aleșd (52.74 km) FCC CONSTRUCCION – GULERMAK – CCN association, lot 3 (20.10.2022) was declared the winner. The contract is 2,117,167,899.08 lei without VAT.
Lot 4: Alesd – Frontieră (46.74 km) association WEBUILD SPA – IMPRESA PIZZAROTTI&C SPA – SALCEF SPA was named the winner (20.10.2022). The contract for the amount of 2,416,850,365.99 lei without VAT.

– reconstruction of 5 railway tunnels
– modernization of 75 railway crossings
– modernization of stations, stops and stopping points
– construction of new buildings for passengers at Poieni and Oradea stations, as well as at Hm Ciucea
– construction of operational/technical buildings at the Cluj-Napoca and Oradea stations, as well as at the Chucha, Laku Krišului and Butan depots
– modernization of signaling/centralization/telecommunications systems along the entire route and installation of automatic barriers at crossings.
